The NC DOT Division of Aviation is pleased to announce that the 2010 Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academies will be held in the Greensboro, Charlotte-Monroe, as well as Elizabeth City areas again this summer. We also have a new additional location, Winston-Salem, which will make the excitement of learning and experiencing aviation firsthand available to more aspiring aviators. Like last summer, both the Middle School and High School summer camps in all locations will be limited to 30 students each.

Separate camps for middle school and high school age students will be held in each location.  Sign up now, and as soon as we firm up the schedule we'll send you the applications for the camps. 

Please note:

• Applications for Greensboro are due by May 31st, 2010.

• Applications for Winston-Salem are due by June 4th, 2010.

• Applications for Elizabeth City are due by June 30th, 2010.

• Applications for Charlotte-Monroe are due by June 15, 2010.

Questions are being devised now, and they'll really check your research skills. 

Every year we're getting better at this, so this summer's camps will be even better than last year - and we had some great times! Check out the pictures from last year's camps, and get ready to have some fun this year.  From Monday morning till Friday afternoon, we'll learn about aviation’s rich history, theory of flight, fly simulators, build balloon racers, drop eggs, talk to pilots and engineers. Visit an air traffic control tower and learn about the NextGen Air Transportation System, talk to aircraft engine builders and the technicians that keep them flying.

And yes, you’ll fly in an airplane!
